Mr Shiva Subramaniam
Shiva is the Chief Innovation Officer of the Gopalakrishnan-Deshpande Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at IIT, Madras. As visiting faculty at IIT Madras and IIT Tirupati, he teaches a novel course for first-year engineering students called ‘Life Skills’ that inspires every student realize their potential. His course ‘Strategies for Professional Growth’ guides young engineering students make the transition from campus to corporate life. He also conducts an elective course called ‘Discovering creativity’ that encourages students to believe in their own creativity. He is one of the select few accredited Master Trainers in the world in Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats® and Lateral Thinking™. He is also a Qualified Buzan Instructor (QBI) in Mind Mapping. He has coached the Indian national cricket team on creativity.
Shiva is a cross-culture coach and has helped diverse teams in various organizations address cultural issues at the workplace. Shiva is passionate about the human potential and what it is meant to achieve. His book titled ‘The Book of 11 Beliefs’ deals with the power of self-belief.
Shiva worked at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for over 18 years, where he was in charge of fostering innovation within TCS. He was a member of the Tata Group Innovation Forum that plans group-level initiatives to help Tata companies establish a culture of innovation. Shiva was also a practicing lawyer in the High Court at Chennai, India.
