Dr PB Anand
Anand is a Reader at the University of Bradford.
Anand has held academic positions at the University of Bradford since 1998 and prior to that as doctoral fellow in economics at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow with the John Anderson Award. Before coming to the academia, Anand had a decade of policy analysis roles holding executive positions in the public and private sectors working on urban infrastructure, housing finance and urban environmental management. Anand is an author of several books and journal papers on global public goods, sustainable development and water governance issues. His book on water scarcity includes a chapter on the Cauvery River dispute. He is the editor of a large volume titled ‘The Handbook of BRICS and Emerging Economies’ forthcoming (OUP). Anand has been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Human Development and Capability Association, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts; a council member of the Development Studies Association and a co-convenor of the annual Cambridge Capability Conferences. Anand has had links with IIT Madras for more than a decade and is currently concluding a three-year British Academy project on smart sustainable cities jointly with Prof Rajan at IITM.
