Professor Wood coordinates the Mathematics Subject Team for the School of Engineering, and with colleagues in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science he is looking at how we might maximise the potential of the Faculty’s cross-cutting theme of ‘applied mathematics’.

Broader professional interests and activities include transnational education (TNE), partnership development, and internationalisation.

Alastair leads internationalisation activity within the Faculty (partnerships, taught programmes, recruitment, etc.) and manages student exchange programmes for the School of Engineering.

He lectures at Sichuan University (Chengdu, China), delivering a Masters-level summer school course, and delivers an MSc module at Wuhan University of Technology (China).

Linked to TNE he has worked with NCUK for some 15 years (as Senior Mathematics Examiner), and he currently chairs their Delivery Quality Committee. NCUK deliver International Foundation Year and Diploma programmes in country for students aspiring to study in the UK. The University of Bradford is a Trustee of NCUK.
